I took a deep breath and placed my first step into the room which will decide my future; whether or not I become a star or remain as a normal university student, continuing my music studies. This was my third round of my audition, the last round before I can sign a contract with SM Entertainment if I have the talent and singing skills to become one of their trainees. My parents invested their money and time into making this silly dream of mine come true. They sent me to singing lessons, allowed me to take dance lessons and hiring one of the top piano instructors in the world so I could connect my soul and brain to music. I could never let them down; I could NOT fail this audition. I scanned the judges and realized, Sungmin and Yesung were one of the four judges watching me. “What is your name?” the judge on the right of Yesung asked.
“Kim Ryeowook,” I calmly replied.
“Alright, you can begin singing now.”
I looked deep into my soul to find that loneliness feeling, coating every sentence, every note in the song with it. I closed my eyes as I sang so I could get more ‘into’ the song. When I finished Sungmin looked at me with a huge smile, Yesung looked at me with huge eyes, and the other two judges just looked at me with a bright face. I knew picking Sungmin's song was a good idea.
“So how long have you been singing for?” Yesung asked.
“I’ve been singing since I was 5,” I said.
“Okay, Ryeowook-sshi, please wait outside and we’ll inform you if you made it or not.” Sungmin smiled and pointed at the door.
I simply nodded and walked out the door. I scanned the room and realized that there were only 5 of us in this room. Some of them seemed nervous; some of the girls were crying and that one guy who was playing with his DS. I sighed at found a comfortable seat in the corner. I looked at the five people, they were all beautiful, young and had their own great personality probably; you could just tell by looking at their clothing.
Suddenly the door flew open and revealed Sungmin’s pretty face, standing there smiling at all of us. We all stood up and gathered around her, eager to know if we made it or not.
“You all did so well today but unfortunately, we were only allowed to pick three people out you five. I’m sorry to those who don’t make it and I hope you’ll keep auditioning for SM because I’m sure you’ll make it next time! And for those who we chose, you’ll have a hard time ahead of you and I hope you all know what you’re getting yourself into. You may be picked to become a trainee under SM, but it doesn’t mean SM will debut you.” Some people looked down at their feet and sighed. “But keep on working hard because SM will NOT let a hard worker go to waste. Lee Chin Ho, Lee Chin Hwa and Kim Ryeo Wook would you three please come into the room to sign the contract.” I stood there frozen, did Sungmin really just call my name or am I just dreaming? Sungmin smiled and grabbed my arm. “Wookie-unnie ah, no you are not dreaming so don’t worry about and go inside,” she whispered into my ear. I nodded and walked inside, still in a daze.
“Here are you’re contracts.” The judge that sat beside Yesung a few minutes ago handed me a booklet with the words, “SM Contract” written in bold across the front. Without a second thought, I signed my signature neatly along the line. A man walked into the door and bowed at the judges then turned towards the three of us. “I will be your manager and be prepared to move into a dorm in a week please. Ryeowook, you are a special case so I won’t be your manager, Sungmin-sshi will explain to you the details. Chin Ho and Chin Hwa, please follow me and I’ll show you around.” The other two trainee’s followed the man out, leaving me alone with the judges.
“So, since it’s just use five, I guess I don’t have to hide the fact I call you unnie anymore,” Sungmin giggled. “So Wookie-unnie, the four of us has decided you are capable of debut without training.”
“What? Seriously?” I gasped in surprise.
“Yes seriously. You will be debuting along side with me, Kyuhyun and Sungmin in SM’s new group called Super Junior.” Yesung answered.
“But Sungmin and I are girls while you and Kyuhyun are guys, how is that suppose to work?” I asked.
“Simple, it’s a co-ed group,” Sungmin laughed at my expression and ran up to me – hugging me. “I guess joinging Super Junior for me isn’t so bad after all,” she stated with an as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
“What!? You have to be kidding me manager-oppa, KYUHYUN AND SUNGMIN ARE GOING TO BE IN THE SAME GROUP? That’s outrageous! Sungmin’s a girl and Kyuhyun’s a guy, HOW IN THE WORLD ARE THEY SUPPOSE TO BE IN THE SAME GROUP?” I yelled at my manager.
“Th-they de-decided to… make… a… co-ed… group I g-guess?” my manager inched away from me in fear.
“Chillax magnae, it’s not like our manager can do anything so stop yelling at him,” Taeyeon patted my back.
“But Unnie, I can’t just let Kyuhyun and Sungmin be together like that! Kyuhyun-oppa is mine and MINE only,” I barked at her.
“Okay, calm down women. If you want your Kyuhyun so much, then why in the world did you send people to kill Sungmin and act all innocent about it? I’m pretty sure if you told him your reason for sending people, he would have understood and would still be with you.” She said and walked away with her cheeks puffed out.
“Aish! Why does NO ONE understand me!? Grrr… I can take this anymore; I’m going to start this stupid plan now and no matter what ANYONE says, I’m going to continue with this plan until the end. “
“In first place for this dance competition is…. Lee Eunhyuk!!! Congratulations for winning and a contract with SM Entertainment!” the MC announced through the microphone. Donghae came up from behind and gave me a little push, reminding me to get my butt on stage and get my award. I couldn’t believe I actually won first place because I was sure Donghae was better than me at dancing and his pelvic thrusting probably attracted 3 out of the 4 judges because they were females, but seriously, me? I won first place? No way!?
I went up to the MC, bowed and shook his hand while posing with a smile across my face, looking at the paparazzi as their flashes blinded my eyes. After they took enough pictures of me, I walked backstage and was immediately glomped my Donghae. “I’m so happy for you baby! You should be so proud of yourself!”
“I am, but I still don’t get why you didn’t win first place Donghae. You were so much better than me,” I pouted.
“Aw, don’t worry about it hun, you know I really don’t care.” Donghae reassured me while still hugging me.
“Yeah I know but-“ I was silenced by a pair of lips covering mine. I slowly closed my eyes and deepened the kiss by leaning backwards and wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Nah-ah, not so fast Eunhyuk and especially NOT now.” He laughed as he pulled away and poked at my pouting cheeks.
“And in second place… Lee Donghae!” We heard the MC announce through the curtain.
“Oh my god Donghae! You are in second place! Yay!” I jumped up in glee and hugged him again.
“I guess I did.” He pulled away again and walked through the curtain to obtain his medal. When he came back, he was grinning.
“Why are you grinning Donghae?” I asked and he threw a booklet at me. I looked at the cover and it looked exactly like the one I got from the MC, the contract for SM. A smile stretched across my face and I looked up at Donghae.
“Do I get a reward for getting second place and a contract to SM?” he asked with a seductive voice.
“Yes, but you’ll only get a small bit of your present.” I walked up to him and stood there looking at his face.
“So… What’s my present?” he asked me leaning closer to me. I pecked his lips and jumped back about a meter away from him so he wouldn’t get anymore.
“That,” I giggled.
“That’s it?” he looked disappointed.
“Yupp, you have to get me so you can get the rest of your reward.” I giggled and ran away from him.
